Porcelain and I Are Fighting
Throughout my undergrad I never interacted with porcelain a lot. I was still struggling with stoneware and I didn’t want to add onto my learning curve with porcelain.
My 3 Week Hiatus Has Ended!!
Something just clicked this week—my productivity is up and my mind is racing with new ideas.
Looking Back is Easy, Starting Again is Hard
Autumn and I had a great time installing and the show really came together. The Space Lab was a great room to install in. Nice and cozy.
Put One Foot in Front of the Other
This past week I took a break from making. I was out of clay and there were other pressing matters:

Clay Always Finds a Way to Humble You
Last week’s soda firing yielded some not so great results. However, even through failure, I learned a lot of about the materials.
The Unseen Preparation Behind Every Pot
Not a lot of new information this week. Many projects are wrapping up and the last step for all of them is the next soda firing. What to do but to prepare for that firing and jump into the next round of making.
Exploration
It’s been a more productive week than last, in the sense of actual pot production.

Contemplation
I am not showing any works-in-progress this week because I really do not have anything to show.

Soda Firing Dissection
One key difference I noted right away was that the kiln atmosphere was more soda rich.

Labor Day Week Shenanigans…
I helped out some friends (Carly and Molly) with there show installation. And…oh boy was there tomfoolery to be had.
September rears its head!
Over the past week, I compiled a list of goals to work on throughout the fall semester.

Here’s to the next year and all the new pots.
First day checklist: Introduction icebreakers, Syllabus review, Existential dread about the semester
