Exploring New Ideas
I’ve recently been investigating the hunping—soul jars. These decorative vases were utilized in burials and they were meant to host the soul of the deceased. They could be representative of the souls life environment or an imaginative landscape for the soul to explore in their next step. I’m interested in the highly decorative toppers and how these vessels are representative of something lost or something new. Their preliminary thoughts right now, mostly investigating the general aesthetic. Beyond this new avenue of exploration, I finished up my terra sig tester teapots and started a new lattice structure for my cups and teapots.
It’s been a fun escape to find something new to play around with. These couple of jars have really sparked by exploration of the sculptural vessel and how landscapes can be formed from them.
I feel like I’ve been moving slower through ideas, but I just need to keep on walking.
