The semester’s end nears - 3 weeks and counting
This week started off with two disasters. One of my teapots got into a show but it got broken in transit. Aaahh…and then later that night I opened up my returned teapot from a previous show and it was broken, too. This really threw me for a loop. I’ve broken a lot of my pots but having someone else break it hurts so much more.
The soda firing went well. We did hit a stall around 2000 but after playing with the gas and air it was one of the most even kilns I had been able to fire. Lastly, we had an accident with the sprayer and lost the head into the kiln. This happened once before with Molly, but we never found the head. This time, one of my pots caught it and created a time capsule.
All my tests are down and my first two jars came out. I’m getting excited by the results. However, I did find out that some colored pencils survive a cone 10 firing.
Lastly, I am in love with endicott clay and am desperate to get that crate here asap so I can buy 100lbs for me to take to grad school.
