Show Time…Space Lab and Student Jury
New ideas are flowing and energy is rising.
A lot of my work plays around with the idea of authenticity and who has authority over it. Because of my background, I feel that I am not allowed even though my birth gives me some legitimacy. This new thought of work is returning to an older idea of looking in. I’m excited to finally return to the lantern designs.
It was show week! Autumn, Molly, and I prepared and showed our work together in the space lab. We had fun playing around with unique pedestals and unconventional presentation methods. In the end, we created a table setting with an uninvited guest. I was happy with how the show turned out. We even brought worms in dirt to the reception.
A lot of the post-baccs were included in the student jury. On Wednesday, we all pitched in some hands to finalize the show before the opening reception on Thursday.
An unfortunate discovery was made in the studio, the clear glaze I utilize a lot was mis-made. The clear glaze was rough to the touch and there were many signs of crawling. Many theories were thrown around with what happened, but in the end…I resigned myself to the truth and cleaned off my pots.
